Turkey 2013 - Painting On Location:

September 23rd - 12th October 2013 - Ev Hales - Turkey - Painting on Location.

Does this sound too good to miss?
Then don't ... September 2013 is the date. Pencil it in your diary now.
This tour of Turkey is organised by Turkeytours, With a Turkish tour guide, Kadir. Kadir lives in Australia, most of the year, so he is fluent in both English and Turkish language and culture. The painting tutor, Ev Hales, well known artist and tutor, loves working on location and is keen to capture the essence of Turkey.
Arrive in Istanbul and already you are transported into a different realm. We will soak up the sights, sounds and aromas of this exotic land as we immerse ourselves in it history and its modern day world.
We are not interested in travelling as far and as fast as we can. If you want to see 'more' of Turkey, join one of Kadir's other tours, because the focus of this tour is to travel, stop, soak up the different areas we go to and then paint what we see and feel. We want to wake up in a place and see how the day begins there , what the rhythm of the place is and how they finish their day. We do not want to be moving so fast we haven't the time to stop and look. We will spend 5 nights in Istanbul so that we can paint and sample some of the unique places here like - Topkapi Palace, Spice market, Aya Sophia.
Leaving Istanbul we will travel to Safranbolu where we will stop for 3 nights to paint in and around this area.
Taking our time, staying one night at Ankara, we will make our way to Cappadoccia where we will spend another 3 nights. This is a truly unique area and many painting possibilites are to be found here.

Antalya is our final destination. This brings us close to the Mediteranean and old Roman cities. We then travel back to Istanbul for the return home.
That is a very abbreviated snap shot of the trip. Full details can be found on the Turkey Tour website.

Tour Guides

Our tour guide, Kadir, knows and loves Turkey, his birthplace, he shares this love with those lucky enough to be on one of his trips. Listening to him speak of Turkey, one senses the pride he has in his culture and the history. He also loves the food and threatens that we will come home a little 'heavier' than we left... I am not sure that this is a good thing!
You will see on the website the range of tours that Kadir offers and I am very glad that he is interested in hosting this painting trip. He is very aware of the needs of artists and is keen to make sure that the trip is memorable for us in terms of painting opportunities.

All in all a trip which promises much in the way of history and fascinating culture, as well as beautiful, varied, scenery and wonderful food. We will see lots but the focus will be on painting so we can come home with a great record of where we have been and what we have seen.If you want to know more about this trip -

Travelling alone or with a partner.
Plenty for all to see and do
The value of travelling with a group means, if you are on your own, you do not have to worry about all the intricacies of the travel process. You can just focus on the place and how to capture it in paint. Some painters will wish to travel with their partners and there is plenty to see and do whilst those of us who are painting are busy with that activity.
All tour details re costs and inclusions / exclusions can be found on the website. Kadir and Alison are better equipped to fill you in on those travel issues. A full itinerary can also be found at the website.
Queries re the painting aspect can be addressed to Ev Hales:
evhales@evhales.com

Painting requirements will be discussed closer to the time.
